Today, the notion of something following formally from something else is central to most research in logic. However, this was not always the case. Though the concept arguably played some role in earlier work, the first treatises devoted to studying consequences didn’t appear until the early 14th century – over 1600 years after the death of Aristotle. In accord with my current research, I’ll be translating three of these treatises over the next few months – two anonymous, and a third from Walter Burley.
